Embedding Strategic BCM Culture through Training

Ascent AutoBCM© organises Training & Awareness programme for internal staff of an organisation to become familiar with the various deliverables from the assignment.

All areas within an organisation would be included to some extent with the level of engagement varying according to the Crisis Management or Business Continuity role associated with the staff member.

Where possible, existing structured activities would be utilised for deploying the BCM training and awareness activities.  This will allow BCM training and awareness activities to be embedded within the organisation’s existing structure and reduces the impact of the new training and awareness activities accordingly.

For example, an employee’s BCM awareness could be managed by modifying scheduled Team Meetings.  An additional Agenda Item could be added and a BCM representative could demonstrate it for 10 to 15 minutes and include the material created for “General Employee BCM Awareness”.

We identify awareness and training requirements of Business Continuity of an organisation  and accordingly develop an appropriate plan. The objective of this plan is to create and embed a BCM culture within an organization and make it part of the organization’s core values and effective management.

Awareness plan shall consist of multiple awareness sessions on Business Continuity plan for various location and departments of an organisation. It, also, shall elaborate possible methods for continuing the awareness in an organisation, through lectures, intranet and exercising opportunities.

Ascent will lay a special focus on embedding BCM in an organization’s culture, through a variety of mechanisms. This includes Training & Awareness for staff at large, specialized pocket cards/ instruction sheet for critical staff, management briefing for their role and authorities during crisis and overall project visibility across the organization partners through corporate communication.

Initial Training program for core staff, responsible for development of business continuity plan, will primarily cover the following aspects:

  • BCM Program Management
  • Conducting a Business Impact Analysis
  • Developing and Implementing BCPs
  • Running a BCP Exercise Program
  • Risk and Threat Assessment
  • Crisis Management and Response
